Excavated, removed underground heating oil tank, back filled hole, disposed of tank, obtained permit, provided certificate of decommissioning.Member Comments: The job went well. A couple of young guys came out. I share the driveway with my neighbor and they were careful of both houses as they brought the backhoe up for the excavation. They had the tank out in short order and filled the hole back up.

They were great. They were very professional and prompt. They did the work well. They were honest. They returned calls. They did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it, unlike some other people who were no-shows. This company is truly a business. Lots of people who do this type of work think they are in business, but they are pretty laid-back. They are self-employed types who are a little light on the “employed” side. Both removal and abandonment in place are methods of decommissioning available for the purposes of the Seattle Fire Code. However, the Seattle Fire Department strongly recommends the oil tank be removed. If the method of decommissioning of the oil tank is to be abandoned in place, the tank must be filled with an inert solid material (e.g. sand, concrete slurry, foam, etc.). When abandoning an oil tank in place, the interior of the tank must be tripled rinsed and washed to remove as much residual product and bottom sludge as possible.

Salvation Army Aids King County Families During Severe Weather

As the temperatures drop in King County, The Salvation Army steps up its commitment to helping the neediest people in the community.

Utility Bill Assistance

The Salvation Army helps needy King County residents pay utility bills, so heat and other basic needs aren't forfeited. Through the Filco Fund, all Salvation Army Corps (locations) have a budget for directly paying local utility companies on behalf of residents who are in danger of losing coverage. To qualify for assistance, residents must bring the following items to a Salvation Army Corps

1. An unpaid utility bill marked "Urgent" or "Final Notice"
2. Photo identification
3. Verification of income

The Filco Fund was established in 2010, through a generous grant from Seattle-based Filco Environmental Tank Services. Thus far, the corporation has contributed funds to help more than 160 families in King County avoid losing their utilities.
